John Marling March is the pen name of Charles M. Grist (www.CharlesMGrist.com), author of the award-winning non-fiction book, My Last War: A Vietnam Veteran’s Tour in Iraq. He is a retired Army Ranger who served in both Vietnam and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is also a retired police officer with experience in patrol operations, as a plainclothes street crimes officer, and as a criminal investigations detective.
He selected the pen name for his fiction projects because both his father and his grandfather were named “John Marling March.” A divorce resulted in his father’s name being changed to “John March Grist.” If this had not happened, Charles M. Grist would have surely become the next John Marling March.
He and his wife live in Central Florida. They have four children and nine grandchildren.
